Title: Athletic Director

 

Job Overview:

 

The Athletic Director will oversee the athletic programs at a college or university. They will develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with governing bodies, manage budgets, hire and supervise coaching staff, and promote student-athlete success. The Athletic Director will work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that the athletic programs are aligned with the institution's mission and values.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

     Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with governing bodies.

     Manage budgets and financial resources for the athletic department.

     Hire and supervise coaching staff and ensure that they are providing high-quality instruction and mentorship to student-athletes.

     Schedule and manage athletic events and facilities.

     Promote student-athlete success by providing academic support, leadership development, and personal guidance.

     Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that the athletic programs are aligned with the institution's mission and values.

     Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of athletic department operations.

     Stay current on trends and best practices in athletic administration.

     Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.

     Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the athletic programs.

 

Qualifications:

 

     Bachelor's degree in Athletic Administration, Education, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

     Minimum of 5 years of experience in athletic administration or related field.

     Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

     Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.

     Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

     Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations.

     Familiarity with budget management and financial planning.

     Excellent organizational and time management skills.

     Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

     Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

The position may require prolonged sitting, standing, and/or walking, as well as occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

 

Salary:

 

The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits may include health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
