Job Overview:

The Bursar will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, including billing, collections, and student account management. This position will work closely with other members of the finance team, as well as academic departments and student services, to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. The Bursar will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures and maintaining accurate financial records.

 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the financial operations of the organization, including billing, collections, and student account management

• Manage the student billing process, including preparing bills, posting payments, and reconciling accounts

• Coordinate with academic departments and student services to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions

• Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations

• Prepare financial reports, including monthly and annual statements, and provide analysis of financial data to senior management

• Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as banks and auditors

• Hire, train, and manage the performance of staff in the finance department

• Assist with special projects and other accounting-related tasks as assigned

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or accounting, with a focus on student account management and billing

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, as well as financial regulations and policies

• Proficiency in financial software, such as QuickBooks or SAP

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
