Title: Camp Counselor

 

Job Overview:

 

The Camp Counselor will provide leadership, guidance, and support to campers in a summer camp setting. They will develop and implement programs and activities that promote social, emotional, and physical growth while ensuring the safety and well-being of campers. The Camp Counselor will work collaboratively with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive camp community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

●     Develop and implement programs and activities that promote social, emotional, and physical growth of campers.

●     Provide leadership and guidance to campers during daily activities, meals, and overnight stays.

●     Ensure the safety and well-being of campers by following camp policies and procedures.

●     Build positive relationships with campers and families.

●     Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive camp community.

●     Participate in staff training and development activities.

●     Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of camper attendance, behaviour, and progress.

●     Ensure that all equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and in good working order.

●     Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the camp community.

●     Serve as a positive role model for campers.

 

Qualifications:

 

●     High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in education, recreation, or related field preferred.

●     Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in a camp, school, or childcare setting.

●     Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

●     Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.

●     Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

●     Knowledge of child development and behaviour management techniques.

●     Ability to lead and participate in physical activities.

●     Excellent organizational and time management skills.

●     Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

●     Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced camp environment.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

The position may require prolonged standing, walking, and/or participation in physical activities. It may also require occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

 

Salary:
