Title: Camp Counselor

 

Job Overview:

 

The Camp Counselor will provide leadership, guidance, and support to campers in a summer camp setting. They will develop and implement programs and activities that promote social, emotional, and physical growth while ensuring the safety and well-being of campers. The Camp Counselor will work collaboratively with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive camp community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

     Develop and implement programs and activities that promote social, emotional, and physical growth of campers.

     Provide leadership and guidance to campers during daily activities, meals, and overnight stays.

     Ensure the safety and well-being of campers by following camp policies and procedures.

     Build positive relationships with campers and families.

     Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive camp community.

     Participate in staff training and development activities.

     Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of camper attendance, behaviour, and progress.

     Ensure that all equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and in good working order.

     Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the camp community.

     Serve as a positive role model for campers.

 

Qualifications:

 

     High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in education, recreation, or related field preferred.

     Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in a camp, school, or childcare setting.

     Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

     Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.

     Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

     Knowledge of child development and behaviour management techniques.

     Ability to lead and participate in physical activities.

     Excellent organizational and time management skills.

     Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

     Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced camp environment.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

The position may require prolonged standing, walking, and/or participation in physical activities. It may also require occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

 

Salary:
