Computer Technician Job Description

 

Job Title: Computer Technician

 

Introduction:

We are seeking a highly skilled computer technician to provide technical support to our clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, and networks. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair computer hardware, software, and networks.

• Troubleshoot computer problems and provide solutions.

• Ensure the security and privacy of client data.

• Install and maintain computer peripherals such as printers, scanners, and other hardware devices.

• Provide technical support and advice to clients and colleagues.

• Manage and maintain inventory of computer hardware and software.

• Perform system upgrades and software installations.

• Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in computer hardware and software.

 

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is preferred.

• Proven experience as a computer technician or similar role.

• Solid understanding of computer hardware, software, and networks.

• Knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.

• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or VirtualBox.

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work well in a team environment.

• Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Flexible and willing to work outside regular business hours, as required.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

• Able to bend, stoop, and reach as required to perform maintenance and repairs.

 

This position reports to: IT Manager or IT Director
