Job Overview:

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing and controlling company costs, including manufacturing and production costs, inventory, and other expenses. This position will work closely with other members of the accounting and finance team to ensure accurate and timely recording of costs, and will also be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the cost accounting function.

 

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and control company costs, including manufacturing and production costs, inventory, and other expenses

• Develop and implement cost accounting policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the cost accounting function

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of costs in the general ledger and other accounting systems

• Monitor inventory levels and reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger

• Prepare monthly cost accounting reports and other financial analysis as needed

• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts

• Participate in the development of new product costs and review of existing product costs

• Analyze manufacturing variances and recommend corrective actions

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities

• Support the external audit process by providing documentation and responding to auditor requests

• Assist with special projects and other accounting-related tasks as assigned

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cost accounting or a related field

• Strong knowledge of cost accounting processes and procedures

• Experience with cost accounting software, such as Oracle or SAP

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
