Position: Cyber Security Specialist

 

Job Purpose:

 

A Cyber Security Specialist is responsible for protecting an organization's digital information from unauthorized access, theft, and misuse. The Cyber Security Specialist will create, implement, and maintain security measures that protect an organization's computer networks, systems, and data.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

- Plan, implement, and maintain security measures to protect an organization's computer networks and systems from unauthorized access, theft, and misuse

- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify potential security risks

- Monitor computer networks and systems for security breaches or unusual activity

- Respond to security incidents and provide remediation and recovery services

- Implement and maintain security controls and procedures to meet regulatory requirements

- Evaluate security technologies and make recommendations for new or improved technologies

- Develop and implement security policies and procedures for an organization

- Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure that security measures are integrated into all aspects of an organization's IT infrastructure

- Stay up-to-date on emerging cyber security threats and trends, and adjust security measures accordingly

- Provide training to employees on cyber security best practices

- Participate in incident response teams and perform other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

 

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cyber security or a related field

- 3+ years of experience in cyber security, information security, or a related field

- Strong knowledge of cyber security technologies and best practices

- Experience with cyber security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanners

- Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and GDPR

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment

- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and cyber security threats

- Relevant industry certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+

 

Working Conditions:

 

The Cyber Security Specialist will work in an office environment and may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to monitor security systems or respond to security incidents. The Cyber Security Specialist may also be required to be on call for emergency situations.

 

Salary:

 

The average salary for a Cyber Security Specialist is around $90,000 per year, but may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
