Job Purpose:

To assist individuals with developmental disabilities in accomplishing their personal goals and objectives in life by providing assistance and training with daily living skills, communication, community involvement, and socialization.

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 

     Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities in accordance with their individualized service plans.

     Teach, assist, and support individuals with daily living skills such as personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and medication administration.

     Assist individuals with communication skills, both receptive and expressive.

     Plan and implement recreational, social, and community-based activities.

     Document all services provided and complete required paperwork accurately and timely.

     Follow all applicable policies and procedures, laws, and regulations.

     Attend and participate in required trainings and meetings.

     Report any concerns regarding individuals’ health, safety, or well-being to supervisor or appropriate agency personnel immediately.

     Maintain confidentiality of all individuals’ information.

     Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

     High School Diploma or equivalent required.

     Must be at least 18 years of age.

     Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.

     Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

     Ability to use a computer and enter data accurately and timely.

     Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

     Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

     Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

     Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

     Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

     First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
