Job Title: Epidemiologist
Introduction:
Epidemiologists are public health professionals who investigate patterns and causes of diseases and injuries in humans. They use research, data collection and analysis to understand the causes and spread of diseases in a population, and to develop strategies to prevent and control outbreaks.
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced epidemiologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for studying the distribution and determinants of health and disease in specific populations. You will also be responsible for planning and conducting public health studies, analyzing data, and reporting on your findings.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct epidemiological studies to investigate the spread, causes and distribution of diseases in specific populations
- Collect and analyze data on health and disease trends, and identify patterns and risk factors that contribute to disease outbreaks
- Monitor the spread of diseases and investigate outbreaks, and work with public health officials to develop strategies to prevent and control further spread
- Use statistical analysis software and techniques to analyze data and report findings in a clear and concise manner
- Collaborate with other public health professionals, including physicians, nurses, and community health workers, to develop public health programs and interventions
- Develop and implement strategies to improve public health outcomes and reduce the burden of disease on specific populations
- Work with community organizations, public health agencies, and other stakeholders to promote public health initiatives and education programs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in a public health setting, preferably in epidemiology or disease surveillance
- Strong analytical and statistical skills, including proficiency in statistical software such as SAS or SPSS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner
- Experience in developing and implementing public health programs and interventions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of public health laws and regulations, as well as ethical principles related to human subjects research.
