Position: Fire Watchman

 

Job Purpose:

A Fire Watchman is responsible for detecting and preventing fires in a facility or construction site. The individual is required to perform regular inspections of the premises, identify potential fire hazards, and report any violations. In case of fire, the Fire Watchman must be prepared to take immediate action to extinguish the fire and alert the authorities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct regular inspections of the facility or construction site to identify potential fire hazards.

- Maintain constant vigilance to detect any signs of fire or smoke and report immediately.

- Monitor hot work activities and ensure compliance with fire safety guidelines.

- Test and maintain fire detection and suppression systems, including fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems.

- Conduct regular fire drills and ensure that all employees and workers are aware of fire safety procedures.

- Train and educate employees and workers on fire safety and prevention techniques.

- Respond to emergency situations and assist in firefighting operations.

- Collaborate with emergency services and authorities to respond to fire incidents and ensure the safety of the premises.

 

Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Proven work experience as a Fire Watchman or in a similar role.

- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and procedures.

- Ability to detect and prevent fires and respond effectively in emergency situations.

- Physical fitness and ability to carry out firefighting activities.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Attention to detail and ability to identify potential fire hazards.

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

- Certification in Fire Prevention and Safety is preferred.

 

Working Conditions:

The Fire Watchman may be required to work indoors or outdoors, depending on the nature of the facility or construction site. The individual may need to work in hazardous conditions, such as extreme heat or cold. The role may require the individual to work on rotating shifts or on weekends and holidays. The Fire Watchman may also be required to wear protective gear, such as helmets, gloves, and boots, while on duty.
