Forklift Operator Job Description


Job Title: Forklift Operator



A Forklift Operator operates a forklift to move, load and unload heavy objects around the warehouse or other job sites. They ensure that products are moved and stored safely and efficiently, maintain the equipment in good condition, and follow all health and safety regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the forklift to move, load and unload heavy objects, products and equipment around the warehouse, job sites or other locations.

• Safely and efficiently transport products, equipment and other materials using the forklift.

• Ensure that the products and materials are moved and stored safely and efficiently.

• Ensure that the forklift is properly maintained, including checking fuel levels and performing routine maintenance checks.

• Follow all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, maintaining a safe distance from pedestrians, and properly stacking products.

• Keep the work area clean and tidy, and report any damage, malfunction or safety issues to the supervisor.

• Complete daily logs and reports as required.

• Follow instructions and communicate with other workers to ensure that tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.



• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Valid forklift operator certification.

• Experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or job site environment.

• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in a standing or sitting position for long periods of time.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

• Good time management and organizational skills.
