General Counsel Job Description

 

Job Title: General Counsel

 

Job Type: Full-time

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to oversee all legal matters for our company. The General Counsel will provide legal guidance and support to the executive leadership team, manage legal risk, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in corporate law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

- Advise executive leadership team on legal matters and provide guidance on strategic decisions

- Draft and negotiate complex legal agreements, including contracts, leases, and licensing agreements

- Manage legal risk and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

- Oversee litigation and manage relationships with outside counsel

- Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate legal risk

- Provide legal support for mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions

- Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio

- Ensure that the company's legal obligations are met, including regulatory requirements and contractual obligations

- Stay up-to-date with changes in the law and advise the executive team on legal implications for the business

 

Requirements:

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

- Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on corporate law

- Admission to the state bar in good standing

- Strong knowledge of corporate law, including contracts, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with executive leadership, outside counsel, and other stakeholders

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Attention to detail and accuracy

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $XXX,XXX - $XXX,XXX per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
