Title: Guidance Counselor

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our educational team. The Guidance Counselor will be responsible for providing counselling services to students and helping them achieve academic, personal, and social success. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

 

Responsibilities:

 

     Provide counselling services to students on academic, personal, and social issues.

     Develop and implement individual and group counselling programs that promote students' academic, personal, and social development.

     Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' strengths, challenges, and needs.

     Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to support student's academic success and overall well-being.

     Develop and implement strategies to address students' academic and behavioural concerns.

     Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families as needed.

     Keep accurate and up-to-date records of counselling services provided to students.

     Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance counselling skills and stay current on trends and best practices in counselling.

     Adhere to school policies, procedures, and regulations.

 

Requirements:

 

     Master's degree in school counselling or related field.

     Valid state certification or license as a school counsellor.

     Minimum of two years of experience as a school counsellor or related field.

     Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

     Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

     Knowledge of counselling theories, techniques, and best practices.

     Understanding of and commitment to student confidentiality and privacy.

     Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

     Experience working in a K-12 school setting.

     Familiarity with education technology and its integration into counselling services.

     Proficiency in a second language.
