Job Purpose:

The Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations of the restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and possess exceptional culinary skills. They will be responsible for leading a team of chefs and kitchen staff and ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently. The Head Chef will be responsible for creating menus, ordering ingredients, managing the kitchen budget, and ensuring that the kitchen maintains a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1. Create and implement menus that are innovative, exciting, and on-trend.

2. Oversee the kitchen staff and ensure that all food is prepared and cooked to the highest standard.

3. Train and develop the kitchen team to ensure they are all performing to their full potential.

4. Manage the kitchen budget and ensure that all costs are kept within budgetary constraints.

5. Order ingredients and ensure that all food is prepared in a timely and efficient manner.

6. Ensure that the kitchen is kept clean and hygienic at all times.

7. Maintain inventory levels and ensure that all kitchen equipment is well-maintained and in good working order.

8. Collaborate with the restaurant management team to ensure that the restaurant is running smoothly and that all guests are satisfied.

9. Participate in menu planning meetings with other members of the management team.

10. Manage the kitchen schedule to ensure that there is sufficient coverage at all times.

11. Keep up-to-date with the latest culinary trends and techniques.

12. Ensure that all kitchen staff are following safety and sanitation guidelines.

 

Requirements:

 

1. At least 5 years of experience as a Head Chef or in a similar role.

2. Culinary degree or equivalent.

3. Strong culinary skills and knowledge of culinary trends.

4. Excellent leadership and management skills.

5. Excellent communication skills.

6. Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

7. Ability to manage a budget and keep costs within budgetary constraints.

8. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

9. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

10. Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.

11. Ability to work in a hot and noisy environment.
