Job Title: Health Informaticist
Job Summary:
A Health Informaticist is a specialized healthcare professional who combines knowledge of healthcare practices and information technology to manage healthcare data and information. Health informaticists use electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare-related software to manage patient data, improve care quality, and support clinical decision-making. They analyze, organize, and manage healthcare data, create reports, and work with other healthcare professionals to improve patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare-related software.
- Analyze healthcare data to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and support clinical decision-making.
- Develop and implement data management policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and privacy.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to develop and implement effective healthcare delivery systems.
- Provide training and support to healthcare professionals on EHR systems and other healthcare-related software.
- Prepare reports on healthcare data, including quality measures and patient outcomes, for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement health information exchange (HIE) policies and procedures to improve healthcare data sharing between healthcare organizations.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or a related field.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
- At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably working with EHR systems and healthcare-related software.
- Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, healthcare data analysis, and healthcare regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals at all levels.
- Experience in project management is a plus.
