Job Summary:


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Health Information Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and organizing patients' medical records and ensuring their accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality. You will work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other entities involved in patient care.




• Review and process medical records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations and standards.

• Organize and maintain electronic and paper medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

• Collect and enter patient information into electronic health records (EHR) systems.

• Verify patient information and insurance eligibility.

• Respond to requests for medical records from healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

• Compile and analyze medical data to support quality improvement and research initiatives.

• Train staff on proper medical record documentation and EHR system use.

• Participate in coding and billing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.

• Maintain a current knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards related to health information management.




• Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or a related field.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or eligibility to obtain certification.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and other team members.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing processes.

• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical record confidentiality requirements.
