Job Title: Intake Specialist




An Intake Specialist is responsible for screening and assessing clients and patients who require medical or social services. They are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the right care and services they need, and their job includes managing patient information, documentation, and referring patients to relevant professionals or organizations. An ideal candidate for this position should have a degree in healthcare or social work and some experience in a clinical or hospital setting. They should be able to communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare providers and have good organizational skills.


Key Responsibilities:


     Conducting intake assessments of patients and clients to determine their needs

     Gathering and verifying patient information, including medical history, demographics, and insurance coverage

     Creating and maintaining patient files and records, ensuring the confidentiality and security of sensitive information

     Providing patients with information on available services, including education on benefits and insurance coverage

     Collaborating with other healthcare providers to ensure patients receive the appropriate care and services

     Referring patients to other professionals, such as social workers, psychiatrists, and medical specialists, as needed

     Providing crisis intervention services to patients experiencing emotional or psychological distress

     Participating in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to patient intake and care

     Monitoring patient satisfaction with services provided and taking corrective action as needed




     Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or a related field

     Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting, preferably in a role that involved patient assessment and intake

     Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance coverage, and healthcare regulations and standards

     Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and other healthcare providers

     Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

     Good organizational and time-management skills

     Ability to work independently and as part of a team

     Crisis intervention skills
