Job Title: Line Cook

 

Introduction:

A Line Cook works in a commercial kitchen and is responsible for preparing food according to recipes and specific standards. The job requires a high level of skill and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Line Cook should be knowledgeable about food safety regulations and should be able to maintain a clean and organized work area.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies

- Prepare food for service according to recipes, portion control and presentation standards

- Cook and plate menu items in a timely and accurate manner

- Follow food safety procedures and regulations

- Maintain a clean and organized work area

- Monitor inventory levels and inform the head chef of any shortages or discrepancies

- Ensure all food products are properly stored and rotated

- Collaborate with other kitchen staff and assist them as needed

 

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Proven experience as a Line Cook

- Knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively

- Knowledge of food safety regulations

- Excellent organizational and time management skills

- Attention to detail and accuracy

- Ability to work well in a team

 

Physical Demands:

- Standing and walking for extended periods of time

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

- Ability to work in a hot and fast-paced environment

 

Working Conditions:

- May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

- May be required to work in a noisy and busy environment
