Job Summary:

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Examiner to conduct autopsies and determine the cause of death for individuals who have died under suspicious or unusual circumstances. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with law enforcement agencies, forensic experts, and other medical professionals to provide accurate and timely death investigations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

     Conduct autopsies and determine the cause and manner of death for individuals who have died under suspicious or unusual circumstances.

     Collect and analyze medical and forensic evidence, including tissue and fluid samples, to aid in the determination of cause of death.

     Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and other medical professionals to ensure accurate and thorough investigations.

     Provide expert testimony in court proceedings related to death investigations.

     Maintain accurate and detailed records of all investigations, including autopsy reports, toxicology reports, and other relevant documentation.

     Provide consultation and education to law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, and other stakeholders on issues related to death investigation and forensic pathology.

     Participate in research and professional development activities to stay current on advances in forensic pathology and death investigation.

     Provide leadership and supervision to other medical examiner staff as needed.

 

Requirements:

 

     Doctor of Medicine degree and completion of a forensic pathology residency program.

     Board certification in forensic pathology.

     Minimum of three years of experience in forensic pathology or a related field.

     Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

     Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, and legal professionals.

     Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

     Ability to work under pressure and handle complex cases and sensitive information.

     Knowledge of forensic pathology and death investigation practices and procedures.

     Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to cultural and social issues related to death investigation.

     Ability to obtain and maintain licensure to practice medicine in the state of employment.

     Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening.
