Job Title: Medical Records Clerk

 

Job Summary:

As a Medical Records Clerk, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records in a healthcare facility. Your duties will include organizing and filing medical records, retrieving and updating patient information, and ensuring that records are accurate and complete. You will also be responsible for complying with legal and regulatory requirements related to medical records management.

 

Responsibilities:

- Manage and maintain patient medical records, ensuring that they are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

- Organize and file medical records in a secure and confidential manner, using established filing and indexing systems.

- Retrieve and update patient information in medical records, as needed, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

- Ensure that medical records are complete and accurate by reviewing them for completeness and accuracy, and following up on any missing or incomplete information.

- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements related to medical records management, including HIPAA regulations.

- Respond to requests for medical records from patients, healthcare providers, and other authorized individuals, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to ensure the highest quality of care.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all requests for medical records, including dates, times, and individuals involved.

 

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical records management principles.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations related to medical records management.

- Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems and other computer software applications.

- Willingness to work flexible hours and adjust to changes in patient needs and staffing requirements.

- Experience working in a healthcare facility, preferably in medical records management or a related field.
