Job Purpose:
The Mental Health Counselor will provide counseling services to clients dealing with various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma. They will assess the mental health needs of clients, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and provide counseling to clients in both individual and group settings. The Mental Health Counselor will also work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and community resources to provide clients with comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct initial assessments of clients to identify their mental health needs, develop appropriate treatment plans, and make referrals to other healthcare professionals as necessary
• Provide individual and group counseling to clients using evidence-based interventions and therapies
• Monitor clients’ progress throughout the treatment process, modifying treatment plans as necessary to ensure the best outcomes
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure clients receive comprehensive care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment plans
• Ensure compliance with all ethical and legal standards governing mental health practice
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in mental health counseling
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve the delivery of mental health services
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field
• State licensure as a mental health counselor, social worker, or psychologist
• 2+ years of experience providing counseling services to clients with mental health conditions
• Experience working in a community mental health setting preferred
• Knowledge of evidence-based counseling interventions and therapies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards governing mental health practice
