Job Overview:
The Mortgage Loan Officer will be responsible for originating, underwriting, and closing mortgage loans for clients. This position will work closely with clients to determine their mortgage needs, review loan applications, and ensure compliance with all applicable lending policies and regulations. The Mortgage Loan Officer will also maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other referral sources to generate new business opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Originate mortgage loans and manage the loan process from application to closing
• Work closely with clients to understand their mortgage needs and recommend appropriate loan products
• Review loan applications and ensure compliance with all applicable lending policies and regulations, including underwriting guidelines and Truth in Lending Act (TILA)
• Analyze financial information, such as credit reports, income statements, and tax returns, to determine loan eligibility and risk
• Maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other referral sources to generate new business opportunities
• Provide excellent customer service to clients throughout the loan process, including answering questions and resolving issues
• Negotiate terms and conditions of loan agreements with clients
• Collaborate with loan processors and underwriters to ensure timely and accurate processing of loans
• Stay up-to-date on changes in lending policies and regulations
• Meet or exceed sales goals and performance metrics
• Maintain accurate and organized loan files and records
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mortgage lending or a related field
• Strong sales and customer service skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of mortgage lending policies and regulations, including TILA, RESPA, and TRID
• Proficiency in mortgage lending software, such as Encompass or Calyx, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Ability to analyze financial information and make sound lending decisions
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• NMLS registration is required
