Job Title: Nurse Manager
Introduction:
A Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing nursing staff, budgeting, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and maintaining high standards of patient care. They manage the day-to-day operations of a nursing unit or department, and ensure that all nursing activities are performed in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures. They are responsible for managing the nursing team and developing training programs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise, mentor and manage the performance of the nursing staff.
• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and standards for nursing practice.
• Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
• Manage staffing levels to ensure that the appropriate number of nurses is available to provide safe and efficient care to patients.
• Provide direction to nursing staff in matters related to patient care and nursing practice.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible patient care.
• Identify problems and areas of improvement and develop solutions to address them.
• Ensure that nursing staff are adequately trained and competent to perform their duties.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of patient care and nursing activities.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
• Manage the departmental budget and monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
• Current state nursing license
• Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience
• Previous experience in a nursing leadership role
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and policies
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Physical Demands:
The Nurse Manager may be required to stand or sit for extended periods, and may need to lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. They may also be required to perform tasks that require manual dexterity and good vision.
Working Conditions:
The Nurse Manager works in a healthcare facility, which may be noisy and stressful. They may be required to work long hours, and may be required to work on weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
