Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Pathologist to join our healthcare team. The Pathologist will be responsible for diagnosing diseases by examining tissues, organs, and bodily fluids. The successful candidate will provide accurate and timely diagnoses to guide the treatment of patients. The Pathologist will also supervise laboratory technicians and collaborate with other medical professionals to develop treatment plans.
Responsibilities:
- Examine tissues, organs, and bodily fluids to diagnose diseases
- Use a variety of laboratory techniques, including microscopy, histochemistry, and molecular biology, to analyze specimens
- Provide accurate and timely diagnoses to guide patient treatment
- Collaborate with other medical professionals, such as oncologists and surgeons, to develop treatment plans
- Supervise laboratory technicians and provide guidance on laboratory procedures and techniques
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and regulations
- Keep abreast of new research and developments in the field of pathology
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives
- Provide education and training to medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Board certification in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology
- State medical license
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in computer software applications, such as electronic health records (EHR) and laboratory information systems (LIS)
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in a specialized area of pathology, such as dermatopathology, cytopathology, or hematopathology
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting
- Experience teaching medical students, residents, or other healthcare professionals
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to manipulate laboratory equipment, including microscopes and surgical instruments
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
