Job Title: Payroll Clerk
Introduction:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our HR department. The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll for our employees. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate payroll records and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees
- Process and prepare bi-weekly payroll for all employees
- Verify accuracy of payroll data before processing
- Calculate overtime and shift differentials for all employees
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Generate and distribute various payroll reports to management as needed
- Process payroll changes, such as salary adjustments, promotions, and terminations
- Assist with year-end payroll tax reporting and W-2 preparation
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in payroll processing
- Working knowledge of payroll software and systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications
Preferred:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience with ADP payroll software
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
