• Investigate and report any violations of probation to the courts.

• Testify in court as needed.

 

Requirements:

 

• A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field is required.

• Strong interpersonal skills, as probation officers must be able to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as probation officers must prepare detailed reports and interact with courts, probationers, and their families.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Knowledge of state and federal laws related to probation and parole.

• Familiarity with community resources and support services.

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

• Ability to handle stressful and potentially dangerous situations.

• Must pass a criminal background check.
