Reports to: Safety Manager
Job Purpose:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining safety programs, policies and procedures for the organization. They provide support to ensure compliance with safety regulations, investigate incidents, perform safety audits and inspections, and develop and deliver safety training to employees.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct safety training sessions for new employees and refreshers for existing employees.
• Perform safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-miss events and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Maintain safety records and provide regular reports to management on safety metrics.
• Coordinate safety meetings and maintain minutes of meetings.
• Work with departmental supervisors to identify and control hazards specific to their departments.
• Conduct safety orientations for contractors and visitors.
• Keep up-to-date with regulatory changes and ensure that safety policies and procedures are updated as required.
• Other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders.
Working Conditions:
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
