School Psychologist Job Description

 

Job Title: School Psychologist

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced School Psychologist to provide psychological assessment, counselling, and support services to students in our school. The School Psychologist will be responsible for helping students to achieve academic success, manage emotional and behavioural challenges, and develop positive relationships with peers and adults.

 

Responsibilities:

 

     Conduct psychological assessments of students, and develop individualized plans to address academic, social, and emotional needs

     Provide individual and group counselling services to students, addressing a range of emotional and behavioural issues

     Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success and academic achievement

     Develop and implement prevention and intervention programs to promote healthy behaviours and positive mental health

     Collaborate with other school personnel to support students with special needs or behavioural challenges

     Assist with the development and implementation of behaviour management plans, and provide crisis intervention services as needed

     Maintain accurate and confidential student records, and comply with all legal and ethical guidelines regarding student privacy and confidentiality

     Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in school psychology and student support services

     Participate in school-wide activities and events, and collaborate with other school personnel to promote a positive school culture and environment

 

Requirements:

 

     Master's degree in school psychology or a related field

     State certification or licensure as a school psychologist

     3-5 years of experience in school psychology, preferably in a K-12 setting

     Knowledge of psychological theory and practice, as well as federal, state, and local regulations governing student support services

     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel

     Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

     Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of the job, and to promoting a safe and inclusive school environment.
