Job Title: Special Education Teacher

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support services to students with disabilities in our school. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), providing instruction in a variety of academic and functional areas, and collaborating with other school personnel to support student success and achievement.

 

Responsibilities:

 

     Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in accordance with federal and state regulations

     Provide specialized instruction in a variety of academic and functional areas, based on student needs and IEP goals

     Collaborate with general education teachers and other school personnel to provide support and accommodations to students with disabilities in the general education setting

     Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress, and adjust instructional strategies and goals as needed

     Maintain accurate and confidential student records, and comply with all legal and ethical guidelines regarding student privacy and confidentiality

     Participate in parent-teacher conferences and IEP meetings, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs

     Collaborate with other school personnel to develop and implement behavior management plans, and provide crisis intervention services as needed

     Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in special education and student support services

     Participate in school-wide activities and events, and collaborate with other school personnel to promote a positive school culture and environment

 

Requirements:

 

     Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field

     State certification or licensure in special education

     3-5 years of experience in special education, preferably in a K-12 setting

     Knowledge of special education theory and practice, as well as federal, state, and local regulations governing special education services

     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel

     Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

     Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of the job, and to promoting a safe and inclusive school environment.
