Position: Sushi Chef
Job brief: We are looking for a skilled Sushi Chef to join our culinary team and prepare delicious sushi dishes according to our recipes. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for handling and preparing raw fish, rice, and other ingredients, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the kitchen is clean and organized. To be successful in this role, you should have experience working in a sushi bar or restaurant, excellent knife skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare sushi dishes according to our recipes and presentation standards
- Handle and prepare raw fish, rice, and other ingredients
- Manage inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and organized at all times
- Follow health and safety guidelines and regulations
- Train and manage junior sushi chefs, as needed
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to develop new sushi dishes and menu items
- Take and fulfill customer orders, as needed
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef
- Excellent knife skills
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation techniques
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree preferred
