Position: Target Cashier

 

Job Summary:

 

Target Cashiers are responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout process for customers in a Target store. They are expected to provide excellent customer service, accurately scan and bag items, process payments, and handle customer inquiries and complaints. They also play an important role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the checkout area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

- Greet customers with a smile and provide friendly, efficient service.

- Accurately scan items and process payments using a cash register or POS system.

- Bag items and assist customers with carrying purchases to their vehicles, if needed.

- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and refunds in a professional and timely manner.

- Maintain knowledge of Target’s products, promotions, and policies in order to provide accurate information to customers.

- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including keeping registers and surrounding areas free of clutter.

- Adhere to all cash handling and security policies and procedures.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure the checkout area is fully staffed and customer needs are being met.

- Participate in training and development opportunities to improve job knowledge and performance.

- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications:

 

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Prior retail or customer service experience preferred.

- Strong customer service skills, including the ability to handle difficult customers with tact and professionalism.

- Ability to operate a cash register or POS system and perform basic math skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

 

Salary: The salary range for a Target Cashier is typically between $9 and $14 per hour, depending on experience and location.
